3 Chords & the Truth: Just playin' records

It's the end of a long seven days, we've had some depressing news in the rock 'n' roll universe, and -- dammit -- we're just sitting back and playin' some records this week.

Well, yes, that's pretty much what we do every week on 3 Chords & the Truth, but still. . . .

We're playin' some old Monkees records in honor of the late Davy Jones, and we're putting together some intriguing sets, because that's what we do here on the Big Show. But . . . but. . . .

Come to think of it, just playin' records is rather extraordinary these days. They don't just play records on the radio anymore -- computers spit out sound files with little human input into the process.

Scheduling software doesn't "just play records." It balances parameters, which leads to underthinking things for the programmer who just doesn't want to. Think, that is.

MAYBE WE should say this edition of 3 Chords & the Truth is "handcrafted radio, assembled with love." Of course, we're not on the radio. Not much room on the radio for the likes of the Big Show anymore.

So we're just hanging out here on the Internet . . . with you. Just playin' records.

It's 3 Chords & the Truth, y'all. Be there. Aloha.
